Although Blake Lively plays the loveable florist in the movie ‘It Ends With Us,’ which has just hit theatres, she has recently come under fire for how she treated Norweigan journalist Kjersti Flaa in an interview in 2016. The award-winning actress and mother of three said a few off-hand remarks to Kjersti when answering questions about her role in the film ‘Cafe Society,’ and Kjersti shared a clip of the experience to her YouTube with the title “The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job.”
In the interview, Kjersti began by congratulating Blake on her pregnancy and new little bump. Blake then responded sarcastically with “Congrats on your little bump.” This awkward moment prompted Kjersti to show off the “bump,” on her backside to ease the tension. However, the tension did not seem to budge.
Later on in the interview, Kjersti asked Blake whether she liked the costume choices in the movie as she found them “visually amazing.” Blake was displeased with this question, responding that female stars are always asked about fashion while men aren’t. She said, “It’s not just the women that have clothes, but I feel like the women get the conversation.” Kjersti then promised that she would ask male actors the same question, but this was ignored by Blake who decided to speak on the costume choices of the men in the film.
Since being uploaded 5 days ago, the clip has over 900,000 views, 17,000 likes, and countless news articles written on it. It also has plenty of supporters in the comments section who have shamed Blake and her co-star Parker Posey for their rudeness. Many have given Kjersti overwhelming support and responded to her interview questions positively.
The clip’s description reads: “Sitting down with Blake Lively and her co star Parker Posey for Cafe Society (2016) is the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced. Is it not ok to congratulate someone on their pregnancy or to ask another woman about costumes she is wearing in a film? Let me know what you think in the comments.” This was widely discussed by people online and many were on Kjersti’s side, especially after news broke of Blake’s other feuds.
Several days ago, an insider source from the set of ‘It Ends With Us,’ stated that Blake was feuding with her on-screen love interest and co-star Justin Baldoni. The source told DailyMail.com that they feuded as Justin was “dismissive,” about Blake’s “input,” in scenes about abuse. The source also claimed that Justin focused solely on “what he believed to be the abusive male viewpoint” and took a chauvinistic approach which caused tension on set.
Blake and Justin were not photographed together at the US ‘It Ends With Us,’ premiere and both Blake and the ‘It Ends With Us,’ author, Colleen Hoover, unfollowed Justin on Instagram. Fans have taken this as proof that they are still feuding and that the rumours are true.
Blake has also come under fire for her light-hearted approach to advertising as many have disapproved with how she has advertised ‘It Ends With Us.’ As the film is primarily about abuse, some are upset with her lack of coverage on domestic abuse and her unserious tone in her social media posts. Blake has mostly mentioned the movie in fashion-related Instagram posts and photos of a florist-themed party thrown in the movie’s honour. Some have perceived these to be in poor taste, given the seriousness of the movie itself. Blake has not addressed this but she did decide to share some domestic violence resources to her Instagram shortly after.
